LAYN is a companion for learning and practising your faith, calmly. Here is what you can expect from it, and what it expects of you.

What LAYN is

LAYN is an artificial intelligence, not a person.

It does not replace a scholar and issues no fatwa: for a question that concerns you personally, ask someone you trust.

It cites its sources. Each text keeps its licence and its origin, shown on the Sources page.

Recitation is in beta: a mistake shows in red on the word, and LAYN does not judge fine tajwid.

Using LAYN

You can write as soon as it opens, without an account. To keep what you do, sign in with a passkey, Google or Apple: your data stays the same.

A guest account unused for 30 days is erased.

An account is reserved for people aged 15 or over. Younger people use LAYN through a profile managed by a parent, which does not exist yet.

Your account

LAYN keeps only the public part of your passkey, no password and no e-mail. You can close each signed-in device, or all of them, at any time.

Limits

So that LAYN stays available to everyone, answers have a daily ceiling, lower for a guest. It is checked at the start of an exchange, never in the middle: an answer already begun goes to its end. Creating guest accounts and sending messages from Contact are limited too.

Acceptable use

No abuse, no automation or scraping of the service, no getting around its limits. In case of abuse, LAYN may suspend an account.

Answers that can be wrong

Answers are written by a model, which can be wrong. LAYN flags what it could not verify: always check the source it cites.

Who owns what

  • LAYN’s software and design belong to the publisher.
  • Texts keep their licence (Sources page). The QPC fonts are © King Fahd Glorious Qur’an Printing Complex, used under the Quran Foundation’s terms.
  • What you write remains yours: you grant LAYN only the licence needed to provide the service.

Liability

LAYN is free and provided on a best-effort basis, with no guarantee of continuous availability.

Its liability is limited to the extent French consumer law allows, without excluding gross or wilful misconduct, or the rights the law guarantees you.

Stopping, and changing

You can stop using LAYN at any time, take a copy of your data or erase it: see the Privacy page.

LAYN may change these terms: the version in force is the one on this page, with its date.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law.

On iOS, Apple’s standard end-user licence also applies.
